Message From The President The executive and committee are dedicated to providing a continuing service which meets the needs not only of our own members but also those of all serving and ex-service men and women and their families throughout Maitland and the surrounding Hunter Valley districts. Unfortunately with the rising costs of providing a voluntary and free welfare and pension service to both serving and ex-service members in the Maitland and surrounding districts it has forced us to implement a sub-Branch Fundraising Committee to raise funds through various means including donations, bequests, raffles, etc. to enable us to continue our ongoing free service and support to those who have served and their families. My Pension and Welfare Officers are keeping up to date with Department of Veterans Affairs changes through bi-monthly network meetings which enables them to provide a constantly improved Pension and Welfare service to both our members and all other ex-servicemen and women. To help with the increasing number of pension enquiries, Mondays has now been set aside as our main initial Claim for Disability Allowance and Service Pension day for which bookings must be made for interviews, special arrangements can be made for those outside the immediate Maitland area. My executive and committee work hard for our members and all serving and ex-service personnel, manning the office on a voluntary basis Monday to Saturday and looking after general enquiries and the pension and welfare needs of our members and the whole ex-service community. A sub-Branch is only as good as its members and in Maitland our members support is "second to none".
Maitland RSL Sub-Branch Maitland RSL sub-Branch was formed on the 1st June 1919 by returned soldiers and sailors who served in World War 1. Maitland RSL is now one of the few sub-Branches in the state which provides a Monday to Saturday service to it's members. As of January 2007 there are 4 qualified and accredited pension officers available to all members of the ex-service community at no cost to the member or their family. There is also a qualified and accredited Welfare Officer available for our members and their families and one Welfare Officer in training and one Visitation Officer.
